>>18943143Honestly California isn't the shithole everyone thinks it is. Yes...avoid San Francisco like the plague, as well as other key areas like Oakland, and the actual city of Los Angeles. I actually live just south east of L.A. in a nice little quaint community and everyone gets along; very safe. There's a lot of money to be made here and plenty of work. The homes are expensive as shit, but this is where I would want to be during a recession. I'm originally from South Florida (like the swamps) and during the great recession there was just ZERO work, and the fucking weather over there was unbearable. The weather over here is beautiful; like it's perfect—only people that were born here and don't know anything else complain about the weather...if they only knew what a -10 blizzard in the Dakotas felt like, or feeling like you're being burned alive in Phoenix. Seattle (surrounding areas) and Oregon are pretty neat too, actually it's just downright beautiful up there, just again, stay away from Portland and Seattle has gotten pretty bad lately. There's no place like SoCal. There's a ton of conservatives over here and little "pockets" here and there full of great people.
Oregon, especially around Junction City or Gold Beach is where I'm going to retire...but there's just no work over there. I make $50/hr with LOTS of overtime at the docks in Long Beach and they literally can't fill all of those positions. And if shit hits the fan you can always enter the service industry for all the rich fucks up in Beverly Hills; I've got a friend that makes $60 working security (with a gun) at a Rolex store.
