There's no misinterpretation here. Paul believed it so much he told everyone to sell all they had because they wouldn't need it soon. He taught how you should react if you're one of the ones still alive when he returns.
But it doesn't matter. People who believe in a religion will just sidestep blatant problems like this nonstop forever. It doesn't matter how ridiculous it seems, they will just do it and blame you for not being able to see it their way. Basically retards incapable of processing the world around them.
