Especially the 'harder' side of the scene that would would develop into hardcore (ironically the house-scene later heavily associated with racism and skinheads) had a lot of popular black DJs and especially black MCs... Just across the channel there's Faithless and Carl Cox..
The good times were when the music was still new, the drugs were cheap and the people were a-political. Pre-2001 raving was quite a fucking thing.
