High fructose corn syrup is digested by the same factors in part as alcohol and produces loads of aldehydes in the body in the process, not only this when your body is digesting fat stores to turn polyunsaturated fats into ATP even more and even worse aldehydes are produced. Ultimately all americans who eat hyper processed foods constantly are in a permanent state of constant hangover since those aldehydes are what is believed to make you feel so shit after a night of drinking. It's a hell and it's not easy to escape.
