I have had this experience too. Drooling on himself and unable to form sentences before he was shipped off to rehab, left, prompted over dosed, and then a room full of teary-eyed friends who are all thinking about "fuck, I should have done something. Why didn't I?" I can't be friends with benzo or opiate addicts any more. I'm tired of taking off my belt to visit a prison, buying everything in quarters; and tired of that awkward ceremony where everyone feels both remorse and guilt. Sorry, got to cut 'em loose, I'm not going through that again.
