it was pretty crazy especially since they were basically all veterans which really completes the picture
i think the real trick to it all is seeming genuine. when someone jumps out to make a comment or question like that they usually phrase it like a question but say it as if they already know the answer which really just cements that they're showing off. by responding to what they've said it gives you the opportunity to ask a question more legitimately as if you're worried about getting the wrong impression from what they've said.
i guess in the end classmates would come to me for help instead of them so i must've been doing something right
