>>2413839>Why do you care what others care about? Just enjoy yourself.I think my defining moment of virtual racing is hearing my friend --who has a car, and is an /o/ poster, and likes to actually race in real life-- tell me that "throttle-off drifting" is not a thing, because we were playing Forza, and I like the NSX, and I would drift it by gearing down harshly to make the wheels slip to make the game give me more steering lock. In the course of steerign harshly with that newfound power, I'd usually have some typical mid-engine snap oversteer, but manage it fine.
I'd smoke that fucker every time we played. No matter what class, no matter what vehicle, I always did better unless I was blind drunk, and even then I'd be a serious goddamn contender.
In all that understanding of what the car should do but also what the game does, in actually winning that "1v1 me in le vidya" shit, he'd still make fun and tell me that I don't know what's going on and didn't deserve to win and all that shit because I don't actually drive irl, as if real driving matters to using a goddamn controller in a video game of vice-versa.
How could I ever enjoy myself on the road when even in shit-ass video games, people shit on me for even attempting to go fast? I just know, even if I could avoid wrecking in real life, people would shit on me for the opposite; "oh your used MR2 is faster than my GTX, but see my AE86 in forza!"
