But I only got internet at home in 2006 and couldn't express myself in english properly. I joined some gaming forums but everyone made fun of my english. Then I found 4chan in 2009 and that's when I really started to learn because the anonimity made me not feel embarassed by mistakes. I kept practicing and about 2 years later I was already writting pretty well and could finally have normal conversations without people noticing I was a foreigner.
I totally get the happiness you feel OP. It's so great to speak english and communicate with the whole world, wereas if you only spoke portuguese you could only talk to brazilian and portuguese people and the internet would be much more limited.
