>>13619885don't think of hotdogs as particularly touristy to be honest, but it's not like i'm going out to ball games very often
>>13620010well specifically with japanese and now korean, people really just want an easier way to consoom their favorite content. that's why you end up with this dumb "all input" philosophy that's cropped up recently where people say all you need to do is turn off english subtitles then watch 10,000 hours of kdramas because that's basically how babies learn
what i'm talking about is a different thing though, where rather than just being lazy people get extreme decision paralysis if they believe they're not taking the absolute most efficient path to success, so they end up in an endless cycle of trying to make sure they're the perfect language student before they start studying anything.
i see, that's not a bad method at all. as much as i just complained about internet language pseuds and their crackpot methodology, have you considered using anki? it's kind of a chore to get set up in a way you like, but after you put in the groundwork it really is a strong tool for vocabulary repetition. at least for a while
>>13620019well at the old uni you could just show up at a prof's office and they'd usually help but it doesn't seem to be that way here
