They clearly took inspiration from different places but didn't delve too deep into it. The gameplay is pretty relaxing and accessible but it felt like it was not the main draw for me coming back to it every time, the story and characters, visuals and music on the other hand were all top notch. I wasn't completely happy with how it ended (felt a bit too abrupt and I think fleshing out the gameplay might have added a fair amount here) but all in all it was a fun time.
Can't say I picked up on any overt agenda peddling aside from all the characters in prominent leadership positions being women but it wasn't forced down your throat or anything.
There were a couple duels and the combat is definitely more saber focused than force unleashed. The powers are also toned down considerably compared to that and are better integrated into the combat if you choose to use them.
