Their entire lives were cloned and factory produced; grown from genetically edited stem cells that became human nerve cells. Essentially brains and spinal cords connected to supercomputers using robotic surgery. The subjects live their virtual life as though it were a natural one. The subjects are normally contented with their existence, despite being puzzled about the surrounding world environment with its lighting and heavy dark clouds and rain and snow..wondering what the fuck kind of world is this and how did we even get here?
But then the thoughts pass and they become distracted with the endless entertainments and shenanigans that go on throughout the day until they exhaust and fall asleep. Only to arise the next day and do it all over again. For years.
