>Never understood why the concept of reparations is so highly contested by right-wingers. Was slavery kind of shitty? Are its effects still prevalent in the form of racism across the country? Then why not do the right thing and rectify the injustice in some way? But logic and reason are not the right-wing's strong suit. To put things into perspective during the 1960s, there wasn't a single republican who supported the civil rights act that would put an end to the second-class citizen status of african americans. And today? They all behave as if there was never a problem with racism in the country, and as if blacks are just throwing tantrums left and right because they feel like it. The US still has a huge racial problem, and not acknowledging it is the surest way it will never be resolved. But that's exactly it isn't it, republicans/right-wingers DON'T want unity.
