Sand people hate pigs because of how useful they are to Europeans. Pork has sustained Europeans for centuries, especially through the long, cold winters and short growth periods. Families could raise a few pigs in their backyard by feeding them inedible scraps to fatten them up, slaughter them before winter and they will have plenty of food until the next winter comes around. This is also why pork is a typically Christmas food. There was some Roman doctor who said that pork was the healthiest food to ever exists too
