Amy’s disappearance was answered with a nod and a smile. Holly had no intention of starting anything in particular, but Romero certainly wasn’t her favourite person. Besides, it was clear that she’d also been involved in a brawl that evening.
“I suppose that’s a fair enough response,” Holly shrugged at Romero’s deliberate no-selling of her words.
Pouring herself another glass of rum, she downed it before making a scene of checking her phone. To her surprise, a text was there.
>Huh, what you mean?>I tried visiting you earlier, you weren’t home.>I can swing by in the morning.Text sent, she looked up at the utterly awkward atmosphere that had taken over their table.
“Don’t allow me to ruin your evening. Always a pleasure, Sheila,” Holly tapped the side of her head, “Hope you get that cleaned up, Romero, wouldn’t want you suffering a career ending concussion.”
With Amy’s return, Holly rises from the table.
“It was fun to get out, Amy, but I think I preferred our earlier choice of company.”
