>>10043943>>10043947esus was approached by a young man who wanted Jesus blessing but Jesus told him to be his follower and one thing was missing. The reason Jesus told him to sell all his possessions was answered in:
>(Matthew 19:22) When the young man heard this saying, he went away grieved, for he was holding many possessions.>(Mark 10:22) But he grew sad at the saying and went off grieved, for he was holding many possessions. The problem was that the young man was being held back by having too much in possessions. That prevented him from following Jesus. Jesus had no problem with people being wealthy. We know this also because of Nicodemus, a Pharisee and a teacher of Israel, a ruler of the Jews (that is, a member of the Sanhedrin) who is mentioned only in John’s Gospel.(Joh 2:23; 3:1-21.) Jesus never told HIM to leave his wealth and distribute it. His problem was that he refused to leave his position and social status in life. He's the guy who paid all the expenses for Jesus burial and bought the expensive tomb to put him in. So obviously, wealth wasn't the problem itself. It's the LOVE of money that is the problem. The young man LOVED his wealth more than Jesus. Nichodemus valued his POSITION more than Jesus.
We also know God has no problem with rich people because Paul gave sound advice for the rich to protect themselves with. He never demanded them to give up their hard earned wealth.
>(1 Timothy 6:17-19) Give orders to those WHO ARE RICH in the present system of things not to be high-minded, and to rest their hope, not on uncertain riches, but on God, who furnishes us all things richly for our enjoyment; 18to work at good, to be rich in fine works, to be liberal, ready to share, 19safely treasuring up for themselves a fine foundation for the future, in order that they may get a firm hold on the real life.
