In Serbia at least, in the 90s people cared about each other. There was a sense of unity, a hope for a better tomorrow. Unironically, it was a better time than today, despite the inflation and bombings.
Then around 2008 something changed. It's like a crack happened at you got the feeling that maybe that better tomorrow would never come. It's been 13 years of nihilism and apathy eroding what little values and hope we had left.
