you can't expect them to track concepts and sentiments the same way a native western citizen would. a great many are blind to the continuity between behavior, prejudice and reputation when they impose themselves on other cultures. none of these considerations ever factored into their daily lives before, when they were churning and milling against each other like microbes in their millions, every filthy misdeed instantly obscured in the deluge of bodies. they come from a place where life is cheap, where the ends justify the means, where the dream of every mother for her newborn son is that he will be a ruthless and cunning trickster. because on a cellular level they know that there is no honorable justification for success. generation by generation, success is desired but not deserved. never earned. only by their endless bodies in a trembling framework of mental yoga do they contrive themselves a place of prominence on the world stage
