Eating from the knowledge tree will give you the realization of good and evil, breaking natural order. Living beings aren't supposed to have morals and ethics. Before they were expelled men were in paradise, living a fullfiling life in harmony with the creator. The creator, in this case Christian God, is the absolute, the All.
How do you discern good from evil in paradise? God, the All, created everything as he pleased, with perfection so there's no way to decide what's right and what's wrong. Reality just exist, there isn't a dungeon master that creates things like cancer just to fuck with us. Existence is amoral, there's no good and evil, just existence. Devil's trick here was to conceive the idea that men is above God, above Existence, making him judge reality based on his individuality and not as an existing piece on a bigger order. Men opposed the All, and you know what happens when people don't see themselves as part of something bigger.
Have you ever seen the expression "Devil is in the details"? That's cause problems are directly related to hermeneutics.
>In the beginning was the verb, then Devil came up with interpretation.
