The kid wasn't "turned into a troon", Money's theory was that gender is something that we learn during our life and especially during our childhood, so according to his theory Reimer should've been happy as a girl if he was told and taught that he was one since childhood. Of course this didn't happen, Reimer wanted to "transition" to his real gender in adulthood and ended up killing himself, and this proved Money wrong and trannies (that thought the literal opposite of Money on the subject, and that is gender is predetermined at birth and not learned during life) right
