>>10187543Well in the case of Soviet POWs the vast majority (60% of those killed) were killed in a single year 1941. They were hearded into pens where they were simply left to starve to death. Later in the war with manpower shortages POWs were used for labor but early in the war Germans simply wanted to exterminate them.
