If I don't work long days then clients get irate, which means we get penalties, which means they leave, etc.
It's not so much being a workaholic than being diligent. I don't like it but it needs to be done so leaving at 5 while it would be good for my health would mean like 10 fewer hours of work a week.
I know it's not good for me, but that's sort of irrelevant. My tasks have priority, that's not abnormal, it's just work. It was the same when I was in uni.
To me physical exercise is a bonus activity that comes after actually important things. I just don't have time or energy for it. I just resent being called lazy for not doing it. There was a time when I would have liked to do it, but I simply do not have the time. A few years ago I had homework, now I have work hours. The ability to go to a gym and spend an hour there a few times a week is a privilege not everyone has access to.
