The key to understanding is that multiple states can lead to the present, and many future states as well, while remaining self-consistent.
This is due to processes which increase entropy.
Some things "lock" the directed-acyclic-graph, reducing it by deleting edges.
One particularly effective means of this 'locking' is the storage of information.
Our brains are particularly good at this.
Pre-cognition, intuition, muses, etc. are simply our brains 'locking' edges such that the intuition comes true.
The future states can be reduced/chosen by:
- intentional entropy of blocking inconsistencies
- intentional neg-entropy of aiding consistencies
