They’re trying to draw kids in but as roundtree, ward, and all the rest has shown GW has learned very well that they have a “volatile” fan base- that is to say dedicated to the fluffand the worlds they put countless hours and dollars into- so they won’t mess around too much, even with primaris they learned to back off with wanking.
This is just a subsidiary project that’ll flop and be forgotten, the game itself is as good as it’d been for a while (admittedly more dumbed down tho) so don’t worry about it.
