Communism is actually the default design for smaller communities where everyone knows everyone and therefore it's in their interest to share resources... at larger scale the fragmentation into smaller groups creates competition which requires the state to step in and moderate, at this point it requires too much outside influence to maintain the structure.
It does not work at large scale implementation because of human corruption.
...though I do agree and love the Philosophy. Marxism is an ideal which the modern human cannot aspire to on large scale.
Any new emergent system of governance will require the use of technology and big data.
