The term "Jew" is a contraction of "Judah", meaning people of the tribe of Judah in the OT or inhabitants of the Roman province Judea in the NT, which was also corrupted and filled with all kinds of people that were not Christ's people (Israel).
Israel does not mean Judah. And Judah is only one son of Jacob, but Jacob had several sons, and they became many nations.
The people we call "Jews" today come from this corrupted people, the Edomites/Canaanites that lived in Judea, corrupted people doing corrupt things and following their own traditions (Babylon mysticism, today known as talmud). That is why they don't follow Jesus Christ, because they are not His people, as He said:
>John 10:26-27 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:It is wrong from every aspect to refer to the so called "Jews" as being Israel. They are not Israel, and they are not even from Judah. The only connection they might have to that one single tribe is through a half-Canaanite, Shelah.
and no one is claiming to be "Jews", we are Christians and the covenant people from Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We are not claiming to be Judahites. The true Judahites are already reunited with all the other tribes of Israel and live among them as Christians, as they are following the God of Israel, as prophesied in Ezekiel 37:15-28
The two houses, the two sticks, reunited as one stick in the hands of our Shepherd Jesus Christ.
