>>5419685Abstaining, so long as you practice it mentally, paradoxically decreases horniness and sexual urges.
This is no surprised, "libido" isn't some mysterious force. With modern neuroscience, we know see that frequency and habituation of sexual activity is contingent upon ΔFosB induction. The more you do it, especially with multiple partners or porn which stimulates it, the more you'll want to do it.
It's like drinking salt water to relieve your thirst. You're only making your problem worse in the long run. If you practice mental continence (abstaining from any thoughts and not viewing anything potentially arousing, averting eyes if need be), arousal will not occur or if it does, will be ephemeral and easily done away with by doing another task.
Most people who try nofap, don't try at all. They continue to think licentious thoughts, and become horny after the fact. Had they not done that, they wouldn't have been horny. If you are thinking or looking at erotic material to the point you're literally aroused and taking pleasure from indulging, I'd go as far as saying it's too late. You might as well do it and start over because at that point, it's like gorging yourself and holding back on throwing up. Naturally throwing up follows gorging yourself. Likewise, if you avoid feasting your eyes and your mind on sexual thoughts, you'll find it near effortless.
>>5419719I found it the total opposite. I stopped masturbating a number of times whenever I was a teenager for a few months even. It was easily done.
Now, I can't even type the name of a porn actress in without getting aroused.
The frequency went up as I got older, same for most people here. It was much easier to practice abstinence as a teenager than the 20s.
Sexual thoughts are much more intruding as you get older too. That's what happens when you fill your mind with smut daily for a decade and why this a subconscious cancer.
