>>19831873I think that Hermes actually talking makes more sense, especially given the whimsical nature of the story- all in all a talking motorcycle isn't the most outlandish thing if you consider the advanced technology some of the countries have. There might be merit to the idea that the motorrads don't literally talk, since one of the inspirations for the story was Sigsawa trying to capture the feeling of the bond between him and his motorcycle, as if he could "listen" to it or something like that, but for a work of fiction to emphasize the idea I think it would make sense for him to make the motorrads literally speak to the rider. Also at some points in the novels it's shown from other characters' perspectives and I think they mention Hermes talking to them.
