I was getting some work done
>>13041412>>13041449>>13041569>This is because they all share the same roots and origins>You say this yourselfYes, but the bible being derived from previous mythology doesn't mean it was itself rewritten and changed to the extent where polytheism is completely removed. I acknowledge that the bible is based on hindu, pagan, and buddhist shit but I feel like it was always monotheistic, from when it was written ~2700 years ago. Monotheism was the entire purpose of it, something that brought the hebrews together when all other mainstream religious trends were polytheistic. Otherwise it wouldn't be necessary and the hebrews could just follow the older semitic religions.
>The issue is that Baal Hadad was not the original chief of the Gods. El wanted his son Yam to be the Chief of the Gods, but Hadad kills YamHypothetically if that was true, wouldn't it just prove that baal is the stronger of the gods and by extension the topdog that deserves to be called "the lord your god"?
>Which god: Dagan, and his son Hadad, and his consortsSo you believe in the "god in multiple persons" meme?
>Yahweh's sole intent is to recruit people to wage war against the CanaanitesI still don't see how that's a reason for only one god to be mentioned in the bible though. If most of the other gods are hostile to baal wouldn't it make sense for the hebrews to include them in the bible considering baal was worshipped by the canaanites?
>The Hebrews tried this, but they fucked up a lotYeah I'm sure every group of people fucked up a lot no matter what gods they worshipped. Canaanites were practically wiped out and greek & roman empires collapsed. Unironically worshipping any god including yahweh is retarded but given the historical context it's understandable why the hebrews did it.
