I've got a whole lot of ideas to throw around, but don't really know where to start. I guess I can begin with a creature or two -
>Brick-Brack
>Found in places where coal deposits meet the plains on the rare few fertile cogs of Dia, the Brick-Brack is a bizarre being of flesh and brass: the front end of the creature resembles a massive draft horse with the horns of a goat and two glazed eyes of glass and teeth of bronze, and in place of hindquarters is an intricate steam engine, constantly hissing smoke and steam as it turns a set of wheels in tandem with the beast's canter. Herbivorous as well as lithovorous, consuming the coal that powers their engines in opportune moments using their chisel-like metal jaws, it is nevertheless dangerous to approach these creatures not only because of their physical might, but also their ability to shoot flares of scalding hot steam from their nostrils, while their bites are strong enough to remove arms from foolish hunters and would-be tamers. Their wild and cantankerous natures have prevented any successful attempts of domestication by the mortal races, and local advice is to steer clear of their presence.
>Their whines contain the inflection of a steam whistle.
