>>2959191I wouldn't say you beat it. It's there for a very good reason. It's one of the factors that give you the butterflys in the stomach when you're going to meet up with the girl you asked out for the first time. It's been shown that when mothers look at a picture of their child, their dopamine elevates. It's one of the factors that makes us appreciate art. It's elevated during religious experiences. The goal is to use the executive part of your consciousness to gain pleasure from things that uplift and perpetuate you, and the species, instead of just wasting it on cheap thrills. A rat with an electrode in it's nucleus accumbens connected to a lever which stimulates dopamine will sit there and stimulate itself to the point that their dopamine is so depleted they will not even get up to eat and they will starve to death instead of stopping the addiction. So in other words, use the executive part of your brain in order to not be lead around by the pleasure seeking part of your brain. Reconcile the conscious with the unconscious. This is part of the concept of what jung called individuation. It's part of what many of the great myths are about including theseus and the minotaur.
