The whole point is that males at first glance see it running towards you, because male brains are geared more heavily towards threat detection. The character is objectively running away, but there's enough ambiguity in what is presented that most men will see a potential threat at first, before analyzing the situation more thoroughly after being prepared for the threat. Women don't do threat detection properly, as has been demonstrated countless times by /pol/, and so only see a person running towards the light.
