I think I've made the decision that I'm going to give the new Vindictus a shot, but if they start getting greedy with that 'protection rune' BS again I'll quit immediately.

In all seriousness though this model is tried and true for making a whole bunch of money off of whales for very little investment which is why they do it. The best way to stop it is to quit playing because whales don't care about being the top player in a dead game.
My perchance story is coming along nicely. After almost tearing the group apart with their latest social engineering shenanigans, most of the college friends are taking a much needed camping trip to disconnect and get away from all the drama.
