>>18915139The union that I'm a member of is paying 42 an hour starting as a journeyman. You also get double OT every hour after 8 or 40, and double ot all Sunday. Healthcare, pension, 401k, and you finish school with a degree. I'm sure it doesn't count for shit but you can still tell degreelets that you have a degree and make more than them. I'm 22 right now, and I make almost twice as much money as all my friends from high-school. I will say that the top end of tech pay is certainly higher, unless I want to work 60+ hours a week, but I highly doubt that's going to remain true with interest rates at this level and all the slaves we import to do coding. I have also never seen shit in my life, it's exclusively new homes/commercial buildings. I'm currently running pipes for a chip manufacturer that's got a contract with our union. Super tight tolerances, but it's in the AC and super clean.
