The twin pillars of American geopolitical strength are military might and the central banking concept. The combination of both enables the USA to create currency out of nothing but paper AND force its global value. We are rich because we say we are rich. Our dollars have not been backed by tangible wealth since 1971, they are now backed by our capacity for war.
The strong get stronger, the rich get richer, and it all relies on fiat currency.
Not saying it's right or wrong. I will say, though, that going off the gold standard at the exact same time the rest of the world's superpowers were starting to fear our war powers and our willingness to use them over the very public objection of the majority of our citizens is the most savvy economic move ever made by a nation, and has led directly to our current unprecedented global hegemony.
