If you stand out in anyway early on Production will target you and make the entire thing about torturing that person until the snape.
It's why S2 was left with people who didn't say much, or do much because they didn't stand out, they followed along and pleased people. But really you want to be making those people targets in the first few weeks to push them out so you're not left with the last two-three weeks completely boring.
Let's see if they can learn anything from this, if Sam and Jet say in after show interviews the show was a massive success and pat each other on the back thinking it was great. Then they'll learn nothing.
Blaming it all on cast is missing the point.
