>>14852636A while back I decided to get stuck in and read the desert trilogy. I'd been interested in some concepts I'd heard were discussed in kabbalah but it was clear that approaching any established faith's mystic elements is retard tier unless you have a thorough understanding of the core material. So I've been reading a bit at a time, one chapter a day kind of thing, and really trying to pay attention to it. (I doubt I'll get to the Zohar in my life, but whatever; I certainly wont if I don't try.)
>its so boring its just an instruction manualI tuned out a little despite my best efforts on the x begat y and y begat z sections. I'm reading the KJV's old testament alongside the Tanakh too, to see the differences which means I'm reading it double, and flipping back and forth to compare bits, which slows it down a lot.
I haven't started the Qur'an yet, but that brings me to a question for anons who might know:
the Qur'an edition in pic related is goddamn amazing, it has the arabic, the transliteration, the raw translation, and extensive commentary (partly why it's so fucking huge) all side by side, page by page. What version of the Bible do anons recommend that's similar to this? extensive and detailed commentary. I know there are plenty of them but I was wondering which ones anons thought were best.
