After that cage match I figured she'd be on our hit list, that we'd all corner her somewhere and make her pay for beating you, like that time we threw Holly off a bridge for messing with Lucy."
That night feels like a lifetime ago now, but as the memory of it comes flooding back, so too does that thrill she felt at the sight of the fear on Holly's face, at the sound of her screams as she vanished into the night and the waters below. As if stirred into life by this, a voice, once almost deafening but now tiny, scratches at the back of Nikki's mind, weak and starved of the hateful emotions it feeds off of. Emotions like those it feasted on that night on the bridge. But she doesn't hear it.
Nikki smiles as Sapphire talks about her feelings after being back in the ring, and hugs her. "That's right Jen. You're no liability, you're an asset. You're far more than a manager. You're a fucking star, just like we always told you. And that title might be your first, but it won't be your last."
But something else Sapphire says sticks with Nikki. What little of the world would see this? No. Everyone needs to see this. "Jen, between the two of us we've got millions of followers on social media. Those are OUR fans, not just WWA's. We should use that." She then pulls out her phone, and retweets an announcement about Sapphire winning the rulebreaker championship.
