Time for some qwik mafs:
Assumptions:
- started working at 21
- median US income from 2000 AD, approx $42,000
- for 1st 7 years earned 60% of median income, earned full median for the next 13 years
- put away a minimum of 10.5% yearly income into savings, rule of thumb i use is put the age you started working/2 into savings as an absolute minimum
- didnt invest or do anything smart with money, jusy put it in a box for 20 years
- spouse didnt have an income and he doesnt have medical insurance for some reason
This guy ALONE should have had about $72,765 pre cancer treatment. How the fuck do you blow that in 5 months of treatment? Either my calcs are retarded or this guy is telling porkies, and it being a reddit fag I know what im going with.
