There's no proof of the existence of a single mental illness. There are no blood tests, nothing shown in a brain biopsy, no clear genetic evidence, and it doesn't show up on EEGs, MRIs, etc. That includes not only the obviously dubious ones like ADD or Aspergers, but even things you would assume must for sure be provable like schizophrenia. People have pretended to be schizophrenic to test whether doctors would find evidence that they were faking and they can't, there is actually no medical evidence whatsoever you can use to distinguish from an actual schizo to someone who's just pretending.
