The reason why 4chan was created was to serve as an English alternative to 2chan and act as something like a sister site after Hiroyuki banned all non-Japanese ips from 2chan. I quick look at Futaba channel(the current incarnation of old 2chan) would show if 4chan, if I meant to a western variation of 2chan one, would understand that 4chan I definitely meant for anime.
