This is a surprisingly good mbti thread with actual quotes from Jung and some smattering of Visual Identification / physiognomy discussion.
I'm disappointed that the Jung quoting anon neglected to post the snippet about Introverted Thinking types and their awkward interactions with the opposite sex.
Personally, I've studied this shit for ages and I've read extensive material from Myers-Briggs, Socionics, Keirsey, and other minor authors. I've also toyed with Visual Identification in the past.
As of now, I think the correct theory is essentially by-the-book chapter X Psychological Types. And my interpretation is that while there are, for example, "Introverted, Thinking" types, there is no "Introverted-Thinking" function. There is simply "Thinking" and two contexts it will exist within (introverted or extraverted). Additionally, I believe that the auxiliary function will be of the same attitude as the dominant function, although less extreme.
Pic not directly related and I don't stand by it, it's just interesting.
