One day in July, all of those NOCs were made examples of after being tortured with Russian representatives present. State Dept. login creds were extracted from those NOCs through torture, and their bodies were prominently displayed and marked.
The ANA commanders pledged their allegiance to the Taliban the next day.
So yes, there is a connection. Russian Intelligence used the facebook pages of the NOCs to identify them and relayed that information to Taliban commanders.
