>>14933355i'm 22. the only social sites I use are twitter for news, discord for LFGing for games, and 4channel to talk to other people.
i consider myself and others who were born in the year 2000-1995 to be "proto-zoomers", as in we are the first of our generation, and the last of our generation to be influenced by late '90's early 2000's culture growing up. everyone more or less that was born after 2000 lean more towards the newer culture of the 2010's, at least that's what i have noticed.
attention-seeking was always a thing, and will always be a thing, no matter what era you are talking about. it's just now it is very easily shared and accessible, that is why you see it everywhere. it's basic science that certain things catch your attention better than others, same concept they use in advertising.
i mean, take a look at /gif/, /b/. they eat that stuff up in a heartbeat. they are as normal as a porn board on reddit.
however, those people are just normal males and females. there are males and females just like you and me, who don't partake in social media as much or at all. hence why we are discussing this on an image board.
i would suggest for you not to care so much about mainstream/normal people and their culture, and just find male/female friends that are similar to you in some way, doesn't have to be completely the same.
i haven't been able to find any friends just because i am very particular and get irritated very easily by certain things, so i don't bother with talking to others irl just so i don't create awkward feelings
