A confession by Jessie made the day before his confession to police. Jessie had confessed to a girl named Kim Floresca, which was stated in a news story for the newspaper "The Commercial Appeal", that appeared on June 7, 1993. The incident occurred the day before the police questioned him and happened during a car ride with a few teenagers. He even told Floresca that he hit the boys, a detail which he refused to admit to police and only admitted after his conviction, instead telling investigators that he only chased down and held Michael Moore while his friends did all the killing:
>Floresca said Misskelley told her and other students the day before he was arrested that he participated in the killings.
>A group of students were driving last Wednesday after school to a friend’s house to go swimming when Misskelley began telling his bizarre tale, she said.
>“He was saying he hit the little boy and the little boy ran off and he was taking him back to where Damien and the other boy were,” she said. According to Misskelley’s story, Echols had already killed the two other boys, she said.
>Floresca said she didn’t believe Misskelley at the time.
