To a point you can fool yourself into liking something to the point of actually liking it and many things you're into are influenced by your past and manifest later on after certain events align. Some of it is just downright exposure. If you look at something enough times you may learn to like it but that's rare.
Lastly a few choice things you're into but didn't know you were into until you were exposed to it. Closet homos tend to struggle here because they don't want to admit they're into something that's counter to the mainstream.
Ultimately though if you're not into something you're going to have a hard time getting into it.
Trannies have a mental disease though so if you like trannies you're really just into mental illness which is in itself probably a paraphilia which would be considered a mental illness.
