there's some good things to be said about having a physically demanding job like you won't have issues with your sleep and lots of exersize but yeah pretty much everything else about them sucks. id heard about the sepukku and mass suicides, it shows quite clearly that hirohito truly just wanted to save lives when he surrendered because he didn't just order everyone to kill themselves.

I've even heard theories that the nuke thing was just a cover story the americans came up with to make themselves seem less monstrous and they just dropped millions of incendiaries in a very short space of time. theres no real merit to it but it does kinda touch on the fact that the whole nuke thing overshadows the true atrocities.
