But I guess your question is: How can gas planets keep their gas near a vacuum?
There is a column of gas (the atmosphere) going into space where the amount of gas molecules/atoms falls exponentially, there isn't a cut of planet|vacuum like you people seem to think. A continuous, gradual decrease of pressure.
Something explodes or implodes only if there is a sudden change in pressure which isn't happening here.
