These 2 economic fuckups are both countries on the same small island of Hispaniola, just btw. The only difference is that Domingans are mostly able to deal with natural disasters, whereas Haitians just sit among the rubble and wait for handouts.
Just for example, Haitians got hit with an earthquake in 2010, but in 2016, when they got hit with a hurricane, the rubble from the 2010 earthquake still hadn't been picked up.
