i'm not sure, but, i got instantly fucking skeeved out at the thought of aluminum in my water
now berkey claims activated alumina is safe but with not a huge amount of digging i did a while ago the conclusion i came to was that they kind of claimed alumina was safe based off flimsy grounds and i know studies are easily falsified so i decided to stop using it.
if anyone here has better knowledge feel free to correct me on the safety of activated alumina? i just got terrified at the prospect of potential aluminum particles in my water so i quit using it. but i still have it. i'd love to use it again to make my zerowaters last longer and get even more fluoride filtered..
i haven't used my berkey in about a year so the black filters and fluoride filters are both dry by now
overall if youre broke like me (poor even) zerowaters are great for getting a clean water system asap. they surprisingly work but the filters need to be changed every month or so depending on your water and how much you use so the cost comes from replacing them but it's cheaper to do this than to get a gucci RO system or something along those lines.
i'll probably try to see if i can get my berkey running again then run filtered berkey water through my zerowater to make sure my shit has 0 fluoride but zerowaters DO remove fluoride
