So instead, they decided to make a new chassis of their own, reusing the Holt design, but lenghtening it significantly. They also made this rhombus shape to make it easier to go over obstacles.
Tracks were a game-changer compared to wheels: not only could they allow the tank to cross difficult terrain, but they could also crush barbed wire, making a way for infantry following it.
The brits barely tested this new version, as they were in a hurry to deploy it on the field. This is what would become the Mark I.
